After being stuck on version 4.0.2 sense launch users started to feel like both Google, and Verizon abandoned them. While the update is rolling out, and you find your self like me, and cant wait for the update. Then look no further. Full instructions after the break.

The official download link for Verizon Galaxy Nexus 4.0.4 has been discovered. Here’s what you need to do in order to upgrade from stock 4.0.2 without needing to be rooted first.

PLEASE NOTE: These steps should work just fine if your bootloader is locked. However, if the Toolkit warns you that the bootloader needs to be unlocked before proceeding with any step, PLEASE BACKUP YOUR ENTIRE PHONE BEFORE PROCEEDING. Unlocking the bootloader wipes ALL data on your phone.

1. Download the OTA ZIP from: http://android.clients.google.com/pa…F.12f767e7.zip

2. Copy the ZIP file to the root of your Galaxy Nexus internal SD card and rename it to update.zip

3. Download and install the Galaxy Nexus Toolkit from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show….php?t=1400871

4. Once you install the software and drivers for the Galaxy Nexus, start the Toolkit and select Option 9, to Boot to CWM Recovery without Permanently Flashing it.

5. Once inside CWM Recovery, you can choose to apply /sdcard/update.zip

6. Reboot when finished and enjoy!

Hardware:

At 193.7 x 122.4 x 10.5 mm thick, and only 345 grams the Device feels great in the hand. The Galaxy Tab 2 “7.0 has a great bezel and feels solid when compared to other Android tablets. Although some of the hardware placements seem to be a little off to me. Even though the tablet was built to be in portrait mode, I personally enjoy any tablet more in landscape, and if your like me you’ll understand exactly what I mean. When the tablet is in landscape mode and your trying to listen to music or watch a video you’ll soon be irritated with how the speaker’s are muffled. Instead of placing the speakers on the back of the tablet or in the front (along the bezel) they are place on the bottom of the device. So when in landscape your hand is constantly covering the speakers. Lastly when in landscape the front facing camera is very easy to cover up when doing a video chat, or snapping that sweet FaceBook pic. Now when in Portrait it is dam near imposable to use the navigation buttons,(Not that it’s any easier when in landscape mode). Even if you have the smallest fingers you will find your self pressing the screenshot button when trying to multitask, or pressing home when trying to go back a screen. This is where we see that a 7” tablet with Ice Cream Sandwich might be to small. The last problem I have with the hardware is the lack of hapticfeedback.

Software:

TouchWiz add some great functionality, but at the same time takes away from android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The TouchWiz launcher that comes stock on the tablet is one of the worst 4.0 launchers I have ever used. It lags all the time. Like all other TouchWiz devices out of the box the app drawer is set to a customizable grid, instead of Alphabetical which for the average user can be confusing because there spending more time hunting for an app, instead of enjoying there App’s.

Battery Life:

The Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 has a Li-ion 4,000 mAh battery, and battery life on this little champ seems to be very good. On average this little guy can get around 14 Hours of moderate use. I bring it to work with me, and still have enough juice when I get home to play some games.

Bloat App’s:
There are a ton of bloat apps preinstaled on the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0. Mostly all Samsung apps. Out of the box you get the following apps (Not including the Google Apps.) “AllShare, Amazon Kindle, ChatOn, DropBox, Game Hub, Media Hub, Memo, Music Hub, Music Player, My Files, Netflix, Photo editor, Polaris Office, Readers Hub, Samsung Apps, Smart Remote, and Screensaver. Now that’s a lot of bloat. Not all bad but it sure is a lot. Some of the good things you get are apps like DropBox. Now I know what your thinking “Its DropBox who cares?” Well Samsung and DropBox have teamed up to give you an additional 50 gigs of storage for 12 months. Which is great sense the device only has 8GB’s of internal memory.

Compared To The Kindle Fire:

When comparing the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 to the Amazon Kindle Fire, I’ll just say this. “Why on Earth would you want a Kindle Fire anymore?” No seriously you are reading this as of now and your trying to decide between the two just spend the extra $50 bucks and get a real tablet. All of the features you can get on the Kindle Fire (Books, Free App Of The Day,” you can get on the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 and a lot more like oh I don’t know Google App’s.

Price:

At $250 dollars you cant really go wrong. You get Android 4.0.3, and some great hardware.

Galaxy Tab 2 VS All Other 7” Galaxy Tab’s:
Well we have to.. Looks like Samsung is working very hard to put this technology in our hands, and it looks like there going to be calling it Youm. Other than the name, Samsung’s site offers a quick comparison between the new technology, LCD, and OLED. The only difference between the standard OLED and its flexible counterpart is the use of film instead of glass, which the company claims makes the display “thinner, lighter, and unbreakable.” Very exciting news I have to say. Pictures after the break..

Looks like the great folks over at Droid_Life have an inside source saying that Verizon is about to drop a white Galaxy Nexus on us as early as this week…..

Looks like the great folks over at Droid_Life have an inside source saying that Verizon is about to drop a white Galaxy Nexus on us as early as this week….. Exciting news right? Well hold on there what if it was it only had 16GB’s of internal memory.. Looks like that’s whats going to happen here. Only good thing that we may see is that the 16GB version will only be $199.99 on contract compared to the $299.99 for the 32GB version that’s available now.. Now the question is would you still want the white Galaxy Nexus if it was only a 16GB model? Take the poll after the break to let us know what you think…
